Rocky Mountain Journalism Camp is the best way to get prepared for a school year in journalism. It helps guide you to make not only your theme, but prepares you for the year before the chaos begins.
Camp makes journalism fun, it inspires journalists, and allows students to produce a product that they are proud of and people see and love.”

Boot Camp
This stand-alone day of training will help polish off your yearbook muscles.
Before you dive into theme development, brush up on your skills. Whether you’re a new staffer or a seasoned pro, this stand-alone day of skills training before main camp starts will prove invaluable to your year. Each track will feature instruction from an eminent instructor and hands-on practice time.
“I was a new staffer this year so I really didn’t have any idea what I was getting myself into. The teachers along with my staff helped me and taught me so I could get caught up and ready.
This camp prepared me so much for the school year.”
-Ava Harding, Castle Rock Middle School

Main Camp
Develop your 2023 theme with support, guidance and training from nationally-recognized educators.
Theme Camp is all about refining your vision for the 2023 yearbook: verbal and visual theme elements, a coverage ladder, design elements, and story ideas.
Each day will be filled with instructional keynotes, guided work time, fun breakouts on focused topics, and support from our expert, award-winning instructors.
As you head off to enjoy the rest of your summer, you’ll leave with a completed theme packet, solid theme copy and a design package that can be carried throughout your next volume.
In between all of that hard work, don’t forget to have some fun. RMJ is the perfect place to bond with your staff on CU-Boulder’s beautiful campus. Sign up for the volleyball tournament and lip sync battle, ham it up with your crew in the photo booth, and no one will judge if you enjoy the soft serve ice cream for lunch AND dinner.

“The camp really opened up so many great new ideas to our school and others to help create a book that stands out from the others and opened our eyes to what you need to make a great book!”
